glorious green smoothies

a friend ask me about green smoothies the other day on twitter and if i had any recipes… and yes, i do. green smoothies are WONDERFUL for people who don’t eat enough fruit or greens. and also great for those who don’t have time to make & eat a nice healthy breakfast every morning. a green smoothie is the perfect meal replacement and the best way for me to take my vitamins!

about to get my mix on

i’ve never followed a smoothie recipe exactly. i’ve also never made the same smoothie twice. i always do something different.

basic ingredients:
fresh fruit: i like green apple, banana, strawberries
frozen fruit: banana, mango, pineapple, blueberries, strawberries, peaches
liquid: your favorite non dairy milk, coconut water or FRESH juice and also non dairy yogurts are great too!
greens: kale or spinach are my favorites
vitamins: vega smoothie infusion powder, ground flax, hemp seed, gogi berries, acai powder, maca powder

you can use ANY fresh fruit / frozen fruit combination. i just listed a few that i prefer. i’m constantly mixing it up! πŸ™‚ i never use store bought juices. i think there are too many additives & preservatives. i prefer using almond or rice milk, coconut water or freshly juiced carrot juice in my smoothies. super yummy and you don’t get all the added sugar and unnecessary chemicals the plastic bottle juices have! adding a non dairy yogurt (i love coconut yogurt because i tend to steer clear of soy when i can) makes the smoothie super smooth and creamy! using frozen fruit is often less expensive than using fresh fruit that might be out of season… i also don’t like the consistency of my smoothies when i add ice and using frozen fruit solves this problem for me! i always add the vega smoothie infusion, ground flax and gogi berries to my smoothies.

there is no right or wrong when it comes to smoothies. just keep blending! πŸ˜‰

1 cup strawberries (fresh or frozen)
vega smoothie infusion (1 scoop)
ground flax seed
almond milk

peachy green
kale (handful washed)
1 banana (fresh or frozen)
1 cup frozen peaches
1/2 cup frozen raspberries
vega smoothie infusion
ground flax seed
almond milk

every berry blend
spinach (handful washed)
1 banana (fresh or frozen)
1 green apple (cut into chunks)
frozen strawberries
frozen blueberries
frozen raspberries
gogi berries
non dairy yogurt of your choice
coconut water
vega smoothie infusion
ground flax seed

good morning breakfast smoothie
coconut water
spinach (handful washed)
green apple
fresh pineapple chunks
green grapes
frozen strawberries
frozen raspberries
frozen peaches
1/2 frozen banana
vegan smoothie infusion
ground flax seed
gogi berries

just some ideas for anyone that needs a little inspiration for their blenders! πŸ˜‰
