i haven’t been dining out very much lately. blame it on lack of income and lack of vegan eateries in fort lauderdale… i decided to treat my best good friend anastacia to dinner last night. anastacia is far from vegan, but she is quite the foodie.
we started with the palm cakes appetizer and i decided to try the nachos. HEAVEN. both were delicious.
i wanted to anastacia to try everything so we also ordered a kale salad to share. yummy as usual. i LOVE the dressing. the apple and avocado is such a nice touch to the salad!
anastacia ordered the chick’n parm and i ordered the chick’n francese… i felt like having a comfort food type dinner. i grew up eating at local mom & pop italian joints and i ALWAYS ordered the chicken francese. this dish was out of this world. i don’t even think i needed the gardein cutlet. the sauce was terrific! so so so so so good!
we had to take home most of our entrees. (well not me because i have the appetite of a hippo). but we of course HAD to have dessert. there were no cheesecakes on the menu so i opted for the carrot cake. normally i wouldn’t order carrot cake because i haven’t found a restaurant or bakery that makes it as good as mine. well i’ve found a new favorite carrot cake. this version was moist and not overly sweet. perfection. it even had a bit of spice from the cinnamon. i LOVED it.
third visit to darbster and i’m still in love. my only complaint is that it’s an hour away. i’m seriously considering moving to palm beach to be closer to my new favorite restaurants. (not even kidding). it’s refreshing to find a restaurant that cares what they are cooking. everything tastes delicious, comes out fresh & the presentation is wonderful. i will keep coming back.
