i love “vacation” because i actually have time to eat! this morning i started out with breakfast bright and early. museli with almond milk and banana! yum. stopped at starbucks for a soy latte. (i skipped coffee all together yesterday).
ventured out to not one but TWO local whole foods markets looking for a green smoothie… neither one had a smoothie bar or juicer. le sigh. i guess i’m spoiled in florida. who knew. while i was wandering around whole foods numero two i found a chocolate bar…where they had a plethora of vegan truffles to choose from. i picked out 4 chocolates to sample.
i’m not a huge chocolate fan, but i had a craving and i just can’t express how absolutely amazing these are. there are no words. the peanut butter melt was to die for. the salted caramel was also a huge hit. the only one i didn’t love was the espresso. these little gems were made at divine treasures which is a local chocolate shop. i might just have to visit them tomorrow! it was as good as the late cocoa v (RIP).
i also put together a salad for lunch from the salad bar. mixed baby greens, carrots, tomatoes, variety of bell peppers, eggplant, wheatberries, black bean salad & vegan sesame nuggets – YUM! totally satisfied. washed it down with my favorite coconut water (made in brooklyn so it’s semi local).
for dinner my mom and i took a 40 minute car ride in search of a local vegan joint. it’s only natural was a bit out of the way but totally worth the hassle. 😉 what a cute little restaurant! the menu had a huge variety. everything we ate was delicious.
i thought for sure i failed my 30 day smoothie challenge… but it’s only natural came to my rescue! yay! only it wasn’t a meal replacement today. ugh. i MUST hit the hotel gym tomorrow! yikes!
this food was pretty amazing. i was very pleasantly surprised. 🙂 and chalkboard painted tables to boot. how much fun is that?!?!?! i wanted to try the three entrees that made up the sampler… so that was a no-brainer. sampler entree it is!
by the time i finished my dinner i was too full for any dessert. my smoothie was my dessert. AND i already had chocolates today… which i rarely indulge in these days… but my mom insisted on carrot cake. so i had to try a bite. or two.
the carrot cake was spicy and more like bread than cake. the frosting was overly sweet with hints of nutmeg and spices. overall it was good but nothing compares to my homemade carrot cake. 😉 i scored a free copy of their cookbook as i was leaving. if you sign up for their newsletter they give you a FREE copy (savings of $12). score! 😀
what a veagn-licious day i had! love traveling. and love my vegan life…
